There's a bit of a trek to reach a stunning beach in Cornwall that has been hailed as one of the best in the UK, but the tranquillity that awaits you at the end is well worth it.
As soon as the sun makes an appearance, the UK's coastlines are swamped with tourists and locals alike, all eager to unwind with loved ones. The most frequented seaside towns experience a surge of visitors, many of whom make a beeline for the beach, equipped with buckets and spades and hoping for a chance to splash in the sea.
These areas can quickly become overcrowded, noisy and uncomfortable, especially for those seeking a bit of peace and quiet while watching the waves gently caress the shore. You might assume that the top beaches will always be bustling during the warmer months, but there are some hidden treasures out there if you know where to find them.

Nestled in Cornwall is the secluded and picturesque Lantic Bay beach, situated between Fowey and Polperro. The Independent recently singled it out as one of the best in the UK for escaping the crowds.
Its white shingle sand and turquoise waters are nestled in a large bay surrounded by towering cliffs. It's these that mean you'll have to put in a little extra effort to reach it, reports the Mirror.
This beach comes with a car park, but to access the shore, a walk through woodland and uneven terrain, including a slope and some steps, is necessary. While this might be slightly off-putting, visitors claim that the peaceful and serene vibe of the place more than compensates for the journey.
Because of the deep shelving of the seabed, boats often frequent this bay, and it's great for swimming. However, given the absence of a lifeguard and the possibility of rip tides, caution is advised when taking a dip.
Overall, the destination seems to have left its mark on multiple patrons, acquiring an impressive 4.5 rating on Tripadvisor. One review labelled it "Paradise in Britain", elaborating: "Amazing beach, well worth a visit. There is a good walk to get there from the car park, which involves a steep descent to the beach. My advice is don't wear sliders like we did wear trainers, as difficult walk back."
Another visitor admired the natural beauty of the place: "Lovely walk to view Lantic bay, we didn't walk down to it. Scenery was stunning. It's a National Trust property, car park is a short walk to see the bay."
There are also rave reviews about the sea itself: "Beautiful bay with a lovely swim. Steep slope down, but well worth the effort. The water was beautiful," quipped one user. What is your favourite Cornish beach to visit? Drop a line in the comments section below.
