A police officer from Devon and Cornwall Police who featured in TV show Call The Cops is set to finally face trial in September. In April 2023, Matthew Tregale appeared at Bristol Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexually touching a 15-year-old girl between February and July in 2014.
At that time the court heard the two charges were expected to be joined with a number of other offences. Tregale was charged with in 2022, relating to three women between 2005 and 2021. Tregale, of Chariot Drive, Kingsteignton, previously denied four counts of sexual assault by penetration, two of false imprisonment, attempted rape, and two counts of sexual assault.

The charges relate to the attempted rape of a woman in April 2010 in Exeter, and two counts of false imprisonment of her between November and December 2008. He faces a further charge of harassing the same woman between June 2005 and June 2010, and three counts of sexual assault by penetration against her in 2006, 2009 and 2010. He is also accused of sexual assault by intentional touching in late 2008, against the same woman.
Tregale, aged 35, is further charged with coercive and controlling behaviour against a second woman in Newton Abbot, between December 2015 and July 2020.
In addition, he is accused of coercive and controlling behaviour against a third woman in 2021 in Newton Abbot.

The officer - who appeared in the Channel 4 mini-series in 2019 - has also pleaded not guilty to putting a person in fear of violence by harassment. At a previous hearing, his legal representative said Tregale "vehemently denies" all the charges
In April 2023 the presiding judge, Judge Michael Cullum, said the trial was expected to last up to five weeks and would take place in February 2023, but this was vacated at that time and attempts were made to list it at the next available date.
The new trial date has now been listed for September 25 this year and the four-week trial will be held at Bristol Crown Court
Devon and Cornwall Police previously confirmed that Tregale is currently suspended from duty.
