A McDonald's restaurant and drive-thru in Cornwall has closed suddenly for a "full investigation" after a pest sighting. The Falmouth branch, on Dracaena Avenue, has been closed since last week with customers missing their Maccies fix.
Reports came in of the closure last Thursday (July 17) and the fast-food chain's doors have remained shut since. There is no explanation or notice in place at the site and no answer when calling the restaurant.
Now CornwallLive can confirm it is due to a pest problem. McDonald's hopes to reopen the restaurant when possible to do so but it is not clear exactly when.

The website currently states it should have reopened yesterday (Thursday, July 25) but that is not the case. It also says it has been closed since Friday, July 5, for "refurbishment".
Customers have frustratingly reported still being able to order on apps such as Uber Eats and Deliveroo with their food never arriving. Drivers have also been perplexed about the closure.
Plenty of people seem a bit lost without their fast food dose while others don't get the fuss. Taking to social media, one said: "Clearly missing it, or at the very least jumping on the bandwagon. There's so many other options, including your own kitchens or worse, supermarket take/fakeaways!" Another said: "I fear everyone needs to relax a bit."
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: "Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us. Following a pest sighting, we made the decision to temporarily close our Falmouth restaurant so that a full investigation could take place.
"We will continue to liaise with our pest control experts as to when we can safely re-open. We apologise for any inconvenience caused." The branch currently holds a five star food hygiene rating following a visit
