Of course, we have the best beaches and the quaint fishing villages. But there's so much more. Off the beaten track of picture postcard scenes, plentiful wonders and curiosities can be found from ancient sites to modern mysteries.
Whether a first-time visitor or Cornish born and bred, many do not venture down the paths less trodden, to the birthplace of the Cornish nation hidden in the sand dunes behind one of the Duchy's busiest beaches or to the forgotten cave of rainbow colours that was once a Victorian tourist attraction.
Overgrown in a riverside woodland there is an abandoned pleasure park. Blasted out of the rocks are tidal swimming pools created by Cornish miners. There are haunted airfields, ancient forests, derelict motels and secret torpedo testing stations.
And then there are the inimitable customs of Cornwall, many of which have been revived in recent years, bringing dramatic 'osses back to our streets and seeing traditions return to this ancient land.
